Funmilayo Florence Babalola

Life & Family

Funmilayo Florence Babalola, fondly remembered for her unwavering dedication to humanity, was born on 24th June 1960 in Iddo-Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria.

She spent her formative years in Lagos, where her nurturing spirit and love for others began to shine. In 1977, she married Ademola Babalola, a retired Nigerian diplomat, and together they were blessed with five children.

Humanitarian Work

Funmilayo was a devoted wife, mother, and humanitarian who passionately gave her time and resources to uplift those in need. From 1988 to 1991, she worked as a contract staff for UNICEF, serving as an interpreter on a critical immunisation project protecting children in underserved communities.

Her selflessness extended beyond her work. She was universally known for her joy in feeding the impoverished and taking care of anyone in need, always with a cheerful and open heart.

The Legacy

Tragically, in December 2016, she passed away at the age of 56 due to cardiac arrest brought on by complications from diabetes and hypertension.

"Funmilayo's life reminds us that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a profound impact on the world. We are committed to keeping her memory alive by making a difference in the lives of others, just as she did."
